The "Washington Road Trip" - 2008
As a Sommelier and fine dining professional for over 30 years, John has had the privilege of working with some of America's finest restaurants, clubs, and resorts including Sea Island GA, The Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, MT and Vestavia Country Club in Birmingham AL. In 2001, John lead an expert wine and service team in opening The Lodge at Sea Island, helping Sea Island earn the coveted Forbes Five-Star and Five Diamond ratings three years running. His passion for wine and service excellence is best shown in his one-of-a-kind food and wine events showcasing some of the world's most celebrated winemakers, chefs, and culinary personalities.
In 2007 John passed the rigorous master's theory examination from the prestigious Court of Master Sommeliers followed by the difficult master's blind tasting exam in 2008. He is currently working toward completion of his Master Sommelier diploma.
John’s wine certification studies have taken him to almost every notable wine region in the world, but it is the Cote d'Or or "Golden Slope" of Burgundy that impacts him most.
He continues fueling that love of food and wine today at JMac's in Chattanooga TN and through his company Golden Slope, which provides wine education, access, and enjoyment to food & wine lovers of all levels.
